FACTS:

Carol Stevens, Founder and CEO and husband Daniel Stevens, Co-Founder, is making a difference in the lives of people with cognitive disabilities and their families.  Established in 1998, in Clarksville, TN, Nia Association has been a premier organization that continues to provide quality and caring personal care services, employment opportunities and affordable housing resources.

In April 1999, Nia began providing homes and supportive living for two people.  Today, the company founded by a vision of compassion, supports 28 adults and youth in 12 homes.

Service Recipients have nicely furnished, single family, community based homes that are staffed by direct support specialists on a 24-hour basis. They provide specialized care and assistance as defined in Individual Support Plans.

Nia is recognized as one of the leading employers in Clarksville, TN with over 140 employees.   Nia management strives to balance supreme service provisions for its clients with  appreciation for employees through competitive pay, benefits and recognition for its dedicated staff. During the August 2007 Quality Assurance Review, Nia Association achieved a “Proficient” rating. This rating attests to the fact that the dedicated staff goes beyond the call to render excellent service delivery.

Nia Associates are dedicated to creating purposeful environments for numerous people. Because of this wonderful business ministry, many service recipients who were formerly institutionalized are now leading active lives in their community. Many skilled persons seeking employment now have careers, not just jobs. Lastly, friendships have been fostered through the unification efforts of many people
seeking true Purpose.

Mission Statement

Nia is a premier non-profit that provides 24/7 holistic, human services for the disabled, health-care employment opportunities and affordable housing for low to moderate income individuals and families..

Vision Statement

Nia is a premier non-profit business ministry that shall continue to fuel to the local economy as one of Clarksville’s largest companies. Beginning with four employees in 1998, Nia employment role rose to 150 in 2007.

By 2009, Nia projects an increase in consumer services by 50%. An estimated 250 additional job opportunities will be created. We anticipate 20-40 civilians and ex-military with disabilities will become gainfully employed through Nia Employment initiatives.

Affordable Housing Program plans are in progress to assist Low to Moderate Income residents with housing. The first phase of a three-phase development began with a HUD 811 grant awarded for new housing construction for people with disabilities. The second phase will serve as a continuum of care through transitional housing for homeless and assistance with obtaining permanent housing within 24 months. The third phase will consist of single family homes designed to accommodate the disabled and seniors 55 and over.
