FACTS:

Mr. and Mrs. StevensCarol Stevens, Founder and CEO and husband Daniel Stevens, Co-Founder, decided to make a difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Established in 1998, in Clarksville, TN, Nia Association has been a premier organization that continues to provide quality and caring personal care services, employment opportunities and affordable housing resources.

After 12 years, this company that was created with a vision of compassion and economic development has supported 40 adults and youth. Clients choose whether they live in their family homes or move to a community-based, single family home acquired by Nia. All services are provided by thoroughly trained Direct Support Professionals on a 24-hour basis. Specialized care is administered in accordance with each client’s Individual Support Plan. Some clients may receive 20 hours weekly in-home “Personal Assistance” while others require 168 “Supportive Living” hours each week.

Nia is recognized as one of the leading employers in Clarksville, TN. Administrators strive to balance supreme service provisions for clients with employee appreciation through competitive pay, benefits and recognition for their dedication. Nia Association was rated “Exceptional” during the most recent State Annual Quality Assurance Review. This rating is the highest possible classification and attests to the excellent orchestration, continuous supervisory monitoring protocols and compliance by dedicated staff. The motto for 2011 is "Thriving and Surviving in a changing Economy."

Nia Associates are dedicated to creating purposeful environments for all supported clients. This rewarding business ministry is committed to enhancing the lifestyles of many former institutionalized clients who are now experiencing fulfilling, community-based supported living. Many citizens who simply sought employment now possess skills and vocations. Friendships have been fostered through coordination and unification efforts of many people who sought true “Purpose” within their lives. Nia Association is currently planning to expand its disability support services to Disabled Veterans and their families. This will be a separate program which includes housing and supports for all qualified Veterans.
